In the beginning was Chaos. Then, after a time, Order moved across the face of the black and Chaos gave birth to three children: Terra, Drade, and Kayde. Terra, the earth, gave birth to Sylvia. Later, she also gave birth to the two races of great, fearsome, and highly intelligent dragons. Then came gryphons, unicorns, and all manner of magical, intelligent creatures. Drade and Sylvia joined and had children. The first of whom was the powerful Hakuma, god of war and strength. His twin sister Mekail was born immediately after, goddess of love and beauty, to balance him. After them came the brothers Rhodaen, the sun, and Fayle, the moon and dreams. Lilith, goddess of the hunt and healing, was next. Then came the twins Lucian, god of order and law, and Irulana, goddess of chaos. Jade was after, the goddess of unarmed combat and wisdom, to rival Hakuma. Next was Celia, goddess of the hearth and home. Kelli, the harvest goddess, and her sister Rachel, goddess of the arts, were next. Last was Kyrie, jealous goddess of the sea. All the gods dwelt in Celestian, the home created for them by Chaos.
In time, many of the gods mated and created children with the gift to give life. Ardole was the first, from the union of Lilith and Lucian. He created the fair and long-lived forest-dwelling, ocean-dwelling, and desert-dwelling Elves. Amon was next, from the joining of Jade and Lucian. He created the brusque and mountain-dwelling long-lived Dwarves. Mylar, daughter of Celia and Rhodaen, created the Halflings. Her half-brother, Aerae, son of Celia and Fayle, created Gnomes. After them was Tarkar, creator of the hideous and violently cruel Orcs, son to Irulana and Kayde. He was followed immediately by Indra, son of Lilith and Fayle, creator of the two races of Ogres: the Urda, High Ogres-which he favored best-and the common Ogres who became jealous and violent. Sometime after these races were created, Terra gave birth to humans. When Kayde saw that his sister’s humans had short life-spans, he descended into the depths and created a home for them after life-the underworld-Exelecia.
After these gods came the lesser ones, such as Candice, goddess of fortune and chance, Caladine, god of the forge, and many others. They were all born from Drade’s promiscuity with not only other goddesses, but humans, dragons, and the other beings on Terra.
Last of the deities, born of Hakuma and Irulana, was Jinkai, creator of two demon races. His first race of demons, even Drade feared, for they were powerful, cruel, and had souls. The second race he created moments later, were the common, soulless demons who torment those on Terra today. Fearing his grandson would take over and destroy Celestian, Drade sealed Jinkai and his demons with souls, away on a plane that was lost to memory.
